African Animation WorkshopAnimators, Artists, Cartoonists and Scriptwriters are invited to apply for participation in the 5 week Africa Animated 2.0 Training and Production Workshop in Durban between June 18 and July 22, 2005. This UNESCO project is an innovative component of the Durban International Film Festival and is facilitated by the Centre for Creative Arts (University of KwaZulu-Natal). The intensive workshop will engage fifteen selected students from countries in East and Southern Africa in the entire animation process, from script to final movie. The intention is to develop an original African approach to animation that forms the basis for an animation industry on the continent. Ultimately the initiative envisages the establishment of a regional centre for animation production and training, addressing Millenium Development Goals and targeting children as the primary audience. The workshop will be conducted by trainers from Canada and the animation faculty of Bournemouth University (United Kingdom) in collaboration with Southern African animators. For details about the project and application procedures interested parties can visit www.cca.ukzn.ac.za or email [email protected] or phone +27 31-260 2506 for entry details.
